22nd Birthday

June 3rd, 2008 | Comments Off | Posted in Food, Personal, Photolog, Winnipeg

Yesterday I celebrated my 22nd birthday. I just booked the day off just to relax (since I usually spend my days working) so basically, nothing really “eventful” happened, he he. Plus, my mother and I decided to have the “bigger” celebration on Saturday since most people are free that day. Today is my mother’s birthday, btw.

Before I proceed to write what happened last night, I just want to thank everyone who sent me a message over at Y!M; those who posted on my Facebook Wall and Friendster comments page, and those who greeted me over at my journal and their LiveJournals. I really really appreciate it. Thank you!

Anyhow, so what really happened yesterday was that I just spent the night hanging out with a couple of my friends. I had dinner with Tristan, Joann and Lemarie at Confusion Corner located at 500 Corydon Ave. Joann started her new part-time job and Tristan just got back from his one-week vacation in Calgary, so that’s what we’ve been talking about that night. We just talked and laughed the night because, well, we were there to celebrate and have fun! More »

My first taste of fried Udon

October 28th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Food, Personal, Winnipeg

Okay, just a sidestory before I start this entry: I went to IrBen Entertainment earlier to pick up my Volume 21 copy of Prince of Tennis, and then I decided to buy Kirin Milk Tea. It was good.

My friend Kaori promised me before that we’re going to have a Japanese dinner sometime during this school year. Well then, we managed to squeeze in the dinner today and we went to Rei’s house to cook.

This is not my first time to eat udon. The first time, I had a tenpura udon and it wasn’t a bad experience. This time though, Kaori decided to cook fried udon instead. So she brought some vegetables and then we got some meat and then we decided to cook, uh, I guess we had yakiudon? I also bought some fish tofu for appetizers. Anyway, thanks to Kaori, I finally know how to cook one Japanese dish. It was pretty easy to do, although the udon was a bit sticky after it was drained. And yes, it was delicious. :) More »

Senior Year (1 of 3)

September 6th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Food, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg

Huge backlog! School started today, but I have to write what happened during the last couple of days of my vacation.

Tuesday morning, pumunta akong school because I need to take pictures of the UMS members plus I had to meet up with Kuya Ron with regards to some stuff about the concert. Nung kukuha na kami ng pictures, Rein went up to us so we were able to meet new Filipino students. Medyo tahimik pa sila, siguro nahihiya. Sinama na rin namin sila sa photo session for my article. After that we went back to UC for the meeting. More »

Masa Japanese Restaurant

August 20th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

This is actually a delayed entry since I went to Masa Japanese Restaurant last month with Jona. The restaurant is 5-10 minutes away from the university so we decided to go there and give it a try. I was surprised so see that the place looks a bit smaller than other Japanese restaurants here in the city. It was also packed since we arrived there past noon so people are coming over for lunch.

This time I decided to try their bento lunch, which is around 9-10 dollars plus tax. I never get the chance to order this in other restaurants that I am familiar of since I am already used to the taste of their sushi (hence, I go there because of the sushi). More »

Blüfish

July 26th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

Before we checked out the play that we attended last night, we went out to eat at Blüfish. We were a bit reluctant to eat here because, according from the info that we got from Ate Karen (from her sibling), it’s quite expensive to eat there. But then again, we all got jobs now so it’s okay, hehe. So we went there and we cannot suppressed our amusement because everyone looks so formal (or decent, at least) and we all look weird since we got caught in the rain. More »

Just Desserts

One of the people I work with mentioned of a good cafe near the Shell station at Saint Boniface area that serves really good cheesecakes. I wanted to visit that place, sadly, I forgot the name of the cafe. Just then, Jona and I decided to visit Just Desserts Cafe (which is beside the Shell station) and take a look at the place. We ended up eating there because of the delicious-looking desserts on the counter. More »

Meiji Sushi

June 26th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

I went to Meiji Sushi (River Ave. Branch) last February, but did not go into details with regards to my restaurant experience. I guess this is the best time to write an entry about the said place because I went there again today with Cheree and Jona for lunch. This time around, I decided to change my visit by not ordering sushi because I think that everytime I go to a Japanese restaurant with my friends, all we eat is sushi. More »

Kenko Sushi

June 23rd, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

After going to Bridge Drive-In, we went to Lem’s place and decided to get dinner in their area as well (she lives at Corydon). After debating on whether we should just go to Osborne instead, we ended up eating at Kenko Sushi. We were a bit reluctant at first because we have no idea about the price range of their food, but we ended up going anyway. More »

Bridge Drive-In

June 23rd, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

My friends and I decided to drop by at Bridge Drive-In, which is located at Jubilee Street (near Pembina Highway). Sybil has been there before, so it’s our (Lem and I) turn to visit the place and taste their soft ice cream.

I actually have no complaints with regards to sweets, so all I can say is that if you live here in Winnipeg and you haven’t been to this place yet, then you should go and visit it. The prices are reasonable, and the view at the bridge is really cool. :)
