The Carousel Project

Hello and welcome to the information section of The Carousel Project. Anyway, this is Megane-ko, owner of Teniyume Dream Novels.

This page will change from time to time, so please keep an eye on upcoming updates.

INFORMATION
The Carousel Project is the working name of the project of Endless Dreamers and Teniyume. Both sites provide English dream novels based from the animanga, Prince of Tennis.

When Teniyume opened last April 2006, Endless Dreamers’ owner, DeVelicious, offered the idea of having a collaboration because the two dream novel sites are affiliated. After numerous e-mail exchanges and brainstorming, a more concrete idea was developed, thus, the reason why you’re reading this.

HOW IT WORKS
The Carousel Project is basically a collection of dream novels written by the staff of Endless Dreamers and Teniyume. Based from the name “The Carousel Project”, you probably have an idea what is it all about. However, this is not just a mere collection of stories. The stories are set in one location, and events can either happen at a different time or simultaneously. Therefore, whenever one writer writes a dream novel, she must take into consideration what previously happened by reading other stories that are also a part of the project.

Each writer has the privilege to choose which Prince of Tennis characters that they want to work on. However, they must finish the story within certain parameters. Please read the NOTES section of this site.

What DeVelicious and I decided (and of course, approved by the rest of the writers) is that the location of the story will be a fictional, famous amusement park at the heart of Tokyo, Japan. Chosen characters from Prince of Tennis will be heading to that place and it is up to the writers what they want to do. The stories will be published on their respective sites, i.e. Endless Dreamers’ writers will have their stories available on their own site, and their respective editors will take responsibility in proofreading and editing the stories.

For instance, DeVelicious decided to start the ball rolling by writing the first story, featuring Rikkai dai’s Yanagi Renji, Sanada Genichirou and Kirihara Akaya going to the amusement park. After releasing her story, I decided to write a Kirihara Akaya dream novel, however, I have to make sure that the events tie up with what happened to Kirihara in DeVelicious’s dream novel. It’s a little complicated to some, but I bet that it’ll be fun, not to mention a little challenging.

THE LOCATION
The name of the amusement park is X-Zed and it is located in Tokyo, Japan. It was recently built and a lot of people go to that place to enjoy the thrill rides, gaming booths and food stalls.

Endless-Dreamers’ DeVelicious, Babybel and yours truly made a map X-Zed map. You can check it here. The mascot and other park-related items’s illustration’s in here, made by Kawamoto.

CHOOSING THE CHARACTERS
For the writers, please e-mail me or DeVelicious and send us at least four characters that you want to work on. When sending us e-mails please mention your FIRST CHOICE CHARACTER. The remaining three characters will serve as your back-up in case someone else already took your first choice character. Also, the choices will be on first come first serve basis, so the earlier you send your choices, the better chance you have in writing about your favorite character.

NOTES
As a sign of courtesy, all project-related stories released at Teniyume will not contain interactive scripts since the scripts are associated with another affiliate site.

Whenever a story is released, there should be a note at the bottom of the dream novel that states that the particular story is a project-related one.

The length of the story will be around 10-15 pages maximum (.doc format) with 12 pt Times New Roman font. The writers can take advantage of the different features of the map, so that they can put their characters wherever they want to.

The writers can use this project to deal with requests. For example, someone requested for a Sengoku dream novel, and the writers might want to write a story about Sengoku visiting X-Zed. That’s fine, since it’ll save the writers time in writing stories and finishing requests.
