Make it last forever

It started one day in May.

"Ne, -chan. Did you already listen to The NAB'S?"

"Who?"

"The NAB'S, . Don't tell me you never heard of them!"

"Sorry…"

"They are so cool! And they're so great. I love their songs and I really think that they'll be able to have a very long career."

"Ah…"

"Actually, I'm not really surprised if you don't know them. They're a new band after all. But I'm sure you would like them."

watched her friend putting a CD in her player. She grabbed the box and started to read the jacket. Surely, these boys were pretty, and the titles of the songs were… nice?

But knew a lot of boy bands, and didn't like half of them. They were always too pretty, or too arrogant, or too young, or their music was not good enough. Her friends always told her that she was way too difficult, and that she even didn't know anything about music.

But just never found a song that gives her shivers. A song that would make her heart beat fast. A song she could sing every time, everywhere; a song that could comfort her.

", your phone is ringing, can't you hear?"

"Eh? Oh yes!"

The young girl rummaged in her bag to find her cellphone, and read: "Mom". Keeping a sigh, she answered.

"Ah, -chan! Where are you? You must go home immediately, we have something to tell you, your father and I."

"Yes, mom. I'll be there soon."

hung up, and smiled at her friend.

"Sorry. Must go. I'll listen to your band another day!"

"Oh wait! Take the CD and listen to it."

nodded and gratefully accepted the CD. She didn't know what her parents wanted to say, but she will surely need some music after. Just to focus on something else. What did they want to say? Was it something important? Something sad? Her parents hadn't called her for nothing, she was sure of that. They knew she was with her friend, and… What was it? didn't notice that she was already in front of her door, staring at it. Her hands shaking, she opened it and shouted:

"Tadaima!"

The dream became true one day in September.

"Hurry mom! We're going to be late!"

"You still two hours before the concert, -chan. Don't be so nervous."

"I-I'm not nervous. N-not at all."

's mother laughed, but didn't go faster.

It was true. They had plenty of time before the beginning of the concert. But wanted to be there early. Just to be sure she will be there, just to see with her own eyes the theater and realize that they will be right in front of her. 's hands shook when she thought about that. After listening to their CDs, watching their PVs, reading magazines about them, she was going to see them in flesh. In the flesh. That sounded so unrealistic. How was she going to react? And if she fainted? She would be so ashamed. Will she scream like these fans she always saw on TV? Oh no, it would be so embarrassing…

was nervous. She was excited, and happy, but nervous. And she was particularly nervous to see him. She liked the whole band, but he was special for her. He was the first guy she ever admired so much, except from her father. She was surely not the only girl who thought that way, but she felt something special, strong.

And before she realized, he was there. Right there. He was like in the PVs, like in the magazines. There was no doubt about it. wanted to close her eyes to enjoy the songs, but she couldn't stop staring at him. He was… everything for her. He had been there for her when she didn't believe in anything anymore. He had been there to comfort her when she was not feeling okay. He didn't know her, but she didn't care.

A whisper escaped her lips: "Kenn…"

He was there, and nothing else really mattered now.

**********

It broke one day in July.

"Come on, . It's been three months already. Get yourself together!"

"Don't talk about that."

"But you know, The NAB'S existed before Kenn."

glanced at her friend, suddenly wanting to stab her. It was totally not the moment to say so mean things to her, not when she just spent three months despairing.

"But you're going to their last concert, you should be happy!" 's friend said.

The young woman sighed. How could she be happy knowing that it will be the very last time she'll get to see them together?

She was devastated when the band announced their separation. She had felt the ground open under her feet and a knife plunge in her heart. It had been a so wonderful concert that day… was happy, and she thought that nothing could destroy her good mood. And then… Kenn took his mic again and with a slow voice and a sad expression on his face, he said it. They were going to give their last show as a band on the 15th of October.

's mother had tried to make her daughter cheer up:

"At least, you won't spend so much money in CDs, DVDs, key chains and other stuff like that anymore. You'll even be able to travel, like you wanted."

The young woman didn't care spending so much money. She always enjoyed buying ridiculous little things, magazines, and even toys. What will she do now?

One week later, in the theater, for the very last concert of the Nab's, cried. But she was finally happy again.

**********

Everything changed one day in January.

"So this is the Space Zero…"

"It's small."

smiled at her friend and patted her.

"But we'll see better like that."

When the doors of the theater opened, the girl and her friend rushed to the presents table. A man greeted them, and gave him the present she made for Kenn. She always offered him something when she came to see one of his concerts or musicals. He never answered her, but she was okay with that. She was not expecting anything from him.

The musical was amazing. Every time Kenn appeared on stage, felt his heart jumping out of her chest. She didn't know that he could skate so well… He must have trained a lot, and felt proud of it. Her friend tried to say something, but the young woman was too mesmerized by the show. She just couldn't hear or see anything else than Kenn.

Their seats were good, and seemed so close to the stage. knew that if she just moved her head, the actors could see her. But she was not the type of trying to catch their attention. What if they fell because of her?

So waited. She enjoyed the show as much as she could, and when the lights went on again, she was happy.

"So now we're going to wait for him outside, right?" Her friend asked.

nodded. Or course they were. Even if outside, it was freezing. Even if outside, the wind was blowing so hard that her hat couldn't stay on her head. They were going to wait for him, because she wanted to see him again.

**********

A dozen of girls had formed a line, from the theater door to the end of the street. They were really noisy, fixing their make-up and wondering all loud if one of the actors would look at them. stood still, patiently waiting for Kenn and not hearing the others' conversations.

And after what seemed an eternity, he was there. He smiled and bowed his head, sometimes told something to someone on the line. He was slowly approaching 's area.

"His haircut is so weird," her friend whispered.

But was not even offended. Because he was in front of her. She wanted to say something, or wave, or do anything to catch his attention. Just to tell him she was there, for him. But she couldn't move. So she just watched him walk…

"Oh!"

's eyes widened when the young man stopped and pointed at her. No way, he was talking to someone else, he was not looking at her.

"I know you, ne? You were in my last concert with The NAB'S, weren't you? Oh, and the puppy plush of today was from you too, right?"

"Y-yes…"

Kenn smiled then, and took 's hand to shake it. The young girl felt tears in her eyes but smiled back, still unable to speak.

"Ah, you're crying because of me! Mou, I'm sorry. Let me treat you for a coffee then, okay?"

**********

Let's make it last forever.

"-chan, your phone."

"Ah, thanks mom. Moshi moshi?"

"Yo -chan! There's going to be another musical for Air Gear. In January!"

"Aaaawww, that's so great! I'm really happy for you."

"I already asked for a copy of the photosets and the pamphlet for you. I know you like them, haha."

"But, you shouldn't… I want to buy them, Kenn-san! Like all the other fans!"

"Stop with the '-san'! We're friends now, ne?"

smiled widely, feeling grateful for having met a so wonderful person. It had started with a real and huge admiration, and would never have thought then that she could find something else to treasure as much.

"Yes, we are friends, Kenn."
