Let me curse with all my heart

February 9th, 2008 | Comments Off | Posted in Photography, Tech & Web

ARE YOU FCUKING SERIOUS?

This actually broke my heart into pieces. Just when I acquired Nakamaru, and then they’re going to do this. This is wrong. So. Effing. Wrong.

As one commenter put it: “It’s so ironic! Like Xerox not xeroxing or something.” Or “Shake it like a microSDHC card” anyone?”

Ferk. I have to mass-buy films tomorrow. :\

(This is me probably being illogical, but I enjoy using my Polaroid so much. I mean, I just got it back last December 28 when my cousin from Manila moved here in Canada and she brought the camera for me. My family had it for more than a decade. And I mean seriously. This is so heartbreaking.)

Managed to come up with a very, very neat layout for my domain. I find it really geeky, blogging about it. :D

Where is quality customer service?

November 5th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Personal, Tech & Web, Winnipeg

I have been thinking about this for quite a while now, and sadly, I haven’t been happy with my current wireless provider. Paano ba naman kasi, ang dami-dami nilang palpak at iritang-irita na ako.

Warning: I am not writing this entry to bad-mouth this service provider. While of course, it is my right as a customer to get the service that I have been paying for, I still want to give them a chance because I had a good experience with them when I had my prepaid account. I just hope that my problems with my plan will be fixed by the end of this month. Anyway. More »

Call for submissions: “Coming Soon”

November 2nd, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Tech & Web

Galing kay kuya Vlad Gonzales:

“Coming Soon”, an anthology of erotic poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction on the loss of virginity. The piece must specifically address a first (human, as opposed to something like bestial) sexual experience.

What we are looking for are pieces that depict an initiation into the sexual act, therefore we will not consider works that try to be coy: for instance, please don’t send a piece on how some character/persona discovers there is such a thing as fornication, yet doesn’t engage in it. We’d consider that a cop-out. Neither are we looking for pieces on, er, giving one’s self sexual pleasure. No, no, no. Works submitted should involve at least two conscious people (no corpses, please!), with an exchange of bodily fluids or whatnot. (If there is no exchange of bodily fluids, the work should address the question: But why the heck not?)

Open to Philippine writers in English and Filipino. Past published works are welcome as long as they have not yet appeared in an anthology.

Deadline: 31 January 2008.
Editors: Conchitina Cruz, Edgar Samar and Katrina Tuvera.

Please send submissions as MS Word documents to comingsoonantho@gmail.com. On the subject line of your e-mail, please indicate your genre (poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction) and language (English/Filipino).

Multiple submissions are welcome, but each entry must be sent seperately. Inquiries should be sent to the same e-mail address.

iclicker

September 10th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Tech & Web, University of Manitoba

Awhile ago we saw Lem’s new iclicker unit. Sybil and I didn’t know what it was about so Lem and Tristan explained it to us.

iclicker an easy-to-use radio frequency classroom response system that facilitates teaching rather than impeding it.

I think that professors can now use this during recitations or exams, so students can use the system instead of answering the usual bubble sheet that most students use during a test. Which is kind of neat if you ask me.

Lovin’ my new toy

I still have to learn a lot of things about my new camera, but I’m getting the hang of it. Most of my art photos can now be viewed at my DeviantArt gallery.

Mozilla Thunderbird with Tag button

August 16th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Tech & Web

I am so happy to find out that my new Mozilla Thunderbird now has a Tag button (see red arrow on the screenshot), making things easier to organize! I usually just sort my mail using subfolders or just use the drop-down button to view only the unread mail, but now I have the tag button and I can color-code them, too. /geek

Stealing a blogger’s identity

March 25th, 2007 | 5 Comments | Posted in Tech & Web

I just got home from work and checked my blog, and while I was checking my stats, I saw this blog called Public Static. Seeing that the referral came from a specific blog entry, I visited the blog and checked what’s going on.

And then I saw my name and my blog url on the comments. You can view the screenshot by clicking this link.

Let me make this thing clear: This is the first time that I visited that blog. I didn’t know what the issue was all about and I will never leave a comment like that. Also, I don’t have time to bloghop recently, as I have so many things to do before this school year ends. Apparently, someone is actually using my identity and… post about things.

Whoever that person was (who has the guts to use my name and url), if you really have something intelligent to say, use your real name, not someone else’s. Based from what you did, I think that you have a brain of a goldfish. Stop whatever you’re doing and leave me in peace. Thank you.

University of Manitoba-hosted Student Blogs

November 21st, 2006 | Comments Off | Posted in Tech & Web, University of Manitoba

U of M just launched seven student blogs hosted at the U of M website.

Our student bloggers offer an inside peek at life at the U of M. So, whether you are a prospective student interested in studying at the U of M, a current student looking for tips from fellow students, or just a curious reader who’s interested in the adventures of student life, the blogs are sure to inform and entertain.

Basically the blogs’ contents are about students talking about their university life at the U of M. Which doesn’t sound so bad, I guess. I do that all the time, hehe.
