Meiji Sushi

June 26th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

I went to Meiji Sushi (River Ave. Branch) last February, but did not go into details with regards to my restaurant experience. I guess this is the best time to write an entry about the said place because I went there again today with Cheree and Jona for lunch. This time around, I decided to change my visit by not ordering sushi because I think that everytime I go to a Japanese restaurant with my friends, all we eat is sushi. More »

Kenko Sushi

June 23rd, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

After going to Bridge Drive-In, we went to Lem’s place and decided to get dinner in their area as well (she lives at Corydon). After debating on whether we should just go to Osborne instead, we ended up eating at Kenko Sushi. We were a bit reluctant at first because we have no idea about the price range of their food, but we ended up going anyway. More »

Bridge Drive-In

My friends and I decided to drop by at Bridge Drive-In, which is located at Jubilee Street (near Pembina Highway). Sybil has been there before, so it’s our (Lem and I) turn to visit the place and taste their soft ice cream.

I actually have no complaints with regards to sweets, so all I can say is that if you live here in Winnipeg and you haven’t been to this place yet, then you should go and visit it. The prices are reasonable, and the view at the bridge is really cool. :)

Buccacino’s Cucina Italiana

My friends and I decided to drop by at Buccacino’s Cucina Italiana and try their food. Most of us pass by the area but we haven’t been there at all, so since it’s summer anyway, might as well try the food there. After our classes, Joann, Lem, Cheree, and I headed to Osborne and had lunch there.

We decided to eat inside the restaurant instead of taking a seat at their patio, mainly because the restaurant is near the main street. Besides, the atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice, so it’ll be a waste not to enjoy the place inside. More »

Monviso Ristorante Italiano

April 5th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

I think our trip to Corydon wouldn’t be complete without eating in an Italian restaurant. We were deliberating which place are we going to try and I told my friends that maybe we can try Monviso Ristorante Italiano. It wasn’t that busy when we arrived at the restaurant, so we were able to get seats right away.

The first thing that I noticed was that the place was really clean and has this elegant atmosphere to it. If you really have a sharp eye (I don’t, but I notice weird things right away), you will see that they have a pair of Maneki Neko near the entrance. :P Anyway… I forgot what I ordered actually, but it’s a pasta with chicken and Rosé sauce. The servings are large. We finished dinner around past 8 in the evening and it’s past 12 in the morning already, but I’m still full. I was really satisfied with the meal.

Anyway, with the service (the girl was pretty nice), the quality of the meal, and the satisfaction that we got from eating at Monviso, I think the price that we paid was pretty reasonable.

Monviso is located at 637 Corydon Avenue here in Winnipeg.

Sugar Mountain

April 5th, 2007 | 4 Comments | Posted in Food, Winnipeg

Galing akong Corydon kaninang hapon hanggang gabi kasama ang mga kaibigan kong sina Lemarie at Sybil. Eto kasing si Sybil eh naisipan niyang magkaroon ng spontaneous dinner sa Corydon which is considered as Winnipeg’s “Little Italy.” Anyway, so after my ASIA3600 ay pumunta na kami sa Corydon. I am going to divide my Corydon trip into two parts, since I wanted to highlight two places that we’ve been to. This first entry is about a store called Sugar Mountain.

Sugar Mountain basically is… a candy store. Madaming candies and chocolates. They also have some toys there, in which I found (to my surprise) a Magic 8 Ball (which I bought because I’ve been looking for it for a while already). Anyway, they have loads and loads of sweets there. Mayroon silang malaking row for Pez candies (yung candies na may canister tapos may ulo ng certain cartoon character sa ibabaw), and some Harry Potter-inspired candies such as Chocolate Frogs (na sold out na, ang lungkot) and Berty Botts’ Every-Flavored Beans. I got myself Whatchamacallit and Lion, brands which I usually don’t see on stands.

I think Sugar Mountain also has a small branch at The Forks, in which the store is set up inside a train car. Anyway, if you really like sweets, and you live here in Winnipeg (or just visiting!) you can go and drop by at Corydon and get some sugar high by dropping by the place. :)

Otoro

February 12th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Food

I went out with my friend Sybil today because it’s our spring break. We went to eat at Meiji Sushi. Sybil managed to capture this excited look on my face because I decided to order otoro, which is the fattiest part of a tuna. It melts in my mouth, not on my chopsticks.

Milo Energy Drink

February 6th, 2007 | 6 Comments | Posted in Food

Lipton Green Tea with Citrus

October 1st, 2006 | Comments Off | Posted in Food

Banana-flavored taho

May 3rd, 2006 | 4 Comments | Posted in Food

I am so happy! It’s been years since I had taho (soya with syrup) and last Saturday, my mom bought some flavored soya/tofu from the oriental store. I got confused at first since I think, although I am not sure of this, “taho” and tofu are two different soya products. But anyway. My mom bought three flavors: regular sweetened one, banana and mango. I’m a little hesistant in tasting the mango one. Ano kaya lasa nun with arnibal (syrup)?

So today I decided to try the banana-flavored taho and put lots of arnibal on top since I like sweets. I’m in heaven.
