Meiji Sushi

I went to Meiji Sushi (River Ave. Branch) last February, but did not go into details with regards to my restaurant experience. I guess this is the best time to write an entry about the said place because I went there again today with Cheree and Jona for lunch. This time around, I decided to change my visit by not ordering sushi because I think that everytime I go to a Japanese restaurant with my friends, all we eat is sushi.

Meiji Sushi is different from the other Japanese restaurants that I’ve been to mainly because I am allowed to pick which table I want to use (traditional, well, not really but it’s okay, and the regular). Hence, the interior of the restaurant is a combination of the traditional (Japanese) and the modern. The servers there are really friendly and knows what the restaurant is offering (as exhibited this afternoon, when a group of people asked the female server there about some info regarding the menu).

I ordered Adegashi Tofu and Tempura Udon. It’s a bit hard to consume their Adegashi Tofu because the servings are different from Kenko (Meiji has three big rectangular slices while Kenko has small five slices so it’s easy to bite them), but the taste is more or less the same. What I enjoyed the most was the Tempura Udon. It was my first time to eat Udon and it was really good. It wasn’t salty; the taste is just right for me. I also enjoyed the Tempura included in the meal, although I would have really enjoyed it if there were more pieces included on it.

I guess what’s really good about Meiji Sushi is how affordable their meals are. The servings are large, but they are cheaper compared to other restaurants. But I would really love it if they have more Japanese food on their list, considering that they have a nice selection of Noodles and Donburi. Overall, eating there was a great experience (see, I went there twice already!).
