Kenko Sushi

After going to Bridge Drive-In, we went to Lem’s place and decided to get dinner in their area as well (she lives at Corydon). After debating on whether we should just go to Osborne instead, we ended up eating at Kenko Sushi. We were a bit reluctant at first because we have no idea about the price range of their food, but we ended up going anyway.

I think that this is the coziest Japanese restaurant that I’ve been to so far. It’s pretty laid-back, but pretty formal at the same time. What I also love about the restaurant is that it is very clean. As soon as we entered the place we saw a big “bar” at the middle where the chefs prepare the sushi. We checked the menu and saw that the prices are pretty reasonable. I got myself two maki (smoked salmon and tamago) and an order of Adegashi Tofu (tofu squares with light-crisp batter and sauce). It’s the first time I’ve tasted an Adegashi Tofu and it was heaven! I love the sweet-salty sauce and the lightly-crisp texture of the batter and the soft tofu are just the right combination. I also had a bite of Sybil’s Seafood Tempura and Lem’s Shrimp Tempura and they’re also good — not oily, not much batter, but enough seafood. Sybil didn’t like their maki though, since she found the rice not sticky enough. I have nothing else to complain because I enjoyed my meal very much.

But I didn’t stop there and decided to get a glass of umeshu — Japanese Plum Wine. It’s my first time drinking it and well, it was a pleasant experience. I think it’s sweet the first time you drink it, and then it starts to… well, taste like wine? Hehe. It was a bit warm too, but nothing that will prevent me not to finish the glass (I don’t like red/white wine >:P).

I didn’t pay much, so that’s good, yet I ended up feeling full. Kenko is located at 788 Corydon.
