Pita Ten, Gokusen 2, Boku dake no Madonna
Pita Ten
This anime is about a sixth-grader boy who lost his mother a couple of years ago. He lives with his workaholic father and spends his day at school with two of his childhood friends. One day a girl appeared from his front-door apartment only to realize it later that the girl is an apprentice angel and is living beside his apartment. They will also meet an apprentice devil and her guardian devil-cat. The only problem is that this devil is too nice to become a devil, much to the devil-cat’s annoyance.
This is a kid’s cartoon, if you ask me. I love how the characters were drawn in detail even though they’re so cute I want to throw up. However, what was disappointing with this series is that the relationship between the protagonist and his father weren’t resolved. By the end of episode 26, there aren’t a lot of interaction between him and his father, and I wonder if the kid will grow up to be distant or something.
Gokusen 2
If you watch Gokusen because Matsumoto Jun’s in that series, well, sorry to be disappointed but this installment doesn’t have Matsumoto in it. However, two of the members of the Japanese boyband KAT-TUN (same company as Arashi where MatsuJun’s a member — yes, member siya ng boyband) are in this series as members of class 3-D again, but in a different school.
To tell you the truth I don’t think this series has something different to offer compared to the first Gokusen drama. Some characters were retained (vice-principal, Yankumi’s grandfather and his grandfather’s followers, and Kuma, who is the only student from the original 3-D who was retained in this series). If you just miss Yankumi and her adventures, then this series is for you.
Boku dake no Madonna
English translation for the title is “You Are My Only Madonna.” The story is about a simple architecture student (Takizawa Hideaki from Tackey & Tsubasa — yes, from the same management as KAT-TUN and Arashi) who hates the people around him because people kept invading his privacy. When he finally moved out on his own, he found out that a girl always stays in his room for a night, eating his groceries, etc. When he decided to find out about her, the girl told her that the reason why she goes to his room is that the guy who proposed to her a long time ago lives on the other building and she wants to see what is he doing and what does “his other girl” look like.
Didn’t finish the rest of the drama but I liked it. Takizawa fits the role of Kyouchi and mukha talaga siyang “Jimmy” (plain and unnoticeable).
