Where Will Our Money Go Next Year

December 31st, 2004 Posted in Entertainment

I know there are a lot of movies to expect this year, and so I decided to post some of the films that I’ll probably watch. With the exception kapag wala akong pera.

In the spirit of bloggers who love watching films, I actually have a guest blogger, the movie lover himself, Sedricke of Manilenyo. Some of the films that he mentioned are already shown here in North America, just so you know. You can also check Drei’s entry about the movies he’s expecting this coming year.

Si Sed po ito: Hello there. Here are few of the movies that I want to see for the next year, 2005. I do not know if I can watch all of them, but I will sure see most of them. These are just Hollywood movies.

Ocean’s 12
I had enjoyed the first Ocean movie immensely, with its wonderful effects, quirky characters and fast-paced story. It won’t hurt if I watch its sequel, especially if Catherine Zeta-Jones is added in the already star-studded cast.

The Phantom of The Opera
Phantom is the highest-grossing musical of all time, and who would not want to see its movie adaptation? Plus the fact that I am crazy about musicals made me add this to my list.

Spanglish
I have heard a dozen times from Jay Leno that this movie is good and very well-written, and that convinced me from wanting to see it.

The Aviator
This is a Martin Scorsese movie about the life of Howard Hughes, played in the movie by Leonardo Di Caprio. Enough said, I think.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events
People are calling this a Harry Potter 3-esque movie, and that made me raise an eyebrow. It got good reviews too. Therefore, it’s on my list.

Closer
Jude Law plus Julia Roberts plus Natalie Portman plus Clive Owen plus Golden Globe nominations equals inclusion in my must-see films.

Alfie
They say that the original is better, but still I want to see this one. It stars Jude Law and Susan Sarandon.

Meet the Fockers
This is the highly-anticipated sequel of the hit comedy Meet the Parents. Plus, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, making a comeback in the movie industry, are playing Ben Stiller’s parents. I wanna meet the Fockers, ladies and gentlemen.

The Merchant of Venice
Al Pacino is a good actor. The Merchant of Venice is a good Shakespeare tragedy. Sedricke will watch this film.

Elektra
Jennifer Garner is my wife, and to support my love’s solo movie, I will watch it of course.

Constantine
Actually, I am quite hesitant to include this because the movie seems like Van Helsing and Keanu Reeves stars in it. Maybe it’s just curiosity.

Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
Wee! A sequel of one my most favorite films! Let’s just hope that it works.

The Weatherman
From what I’ve read, this is a Nicolas Cage movie with a dark comedy story like that of American Beauty. Enough for me to be curious.

The Interpreter
Nicole Kidman is reason enough for me to watch a film, but this movie also includes Sean Penn!

Kingdom of Heaven
This is the much talked about because it is Orlando Bloom’s first solo film (and yet another person from a certain period) and it is a Ridley Scott creation. People, including me, I am sure will compare this to Gladiator, which is Scott’s Best Picture film.

Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith
Just to complete my Star Wars watch, I would see this one. Plus I am curious how Anakin stepped into the Dark Side.

Cinderella Man
I am not very crazy about films regarding boxing, but this is Russell Crowe with Renee Zellwegger, and directed by Ron Howard. All are Academy winners!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
This is a Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie starrer about two married assassins who are assigned to kill each other. How nice and exciting is that?

Batman Begins
Another one of the highly anticipated films of next year is Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale as Batman. Well, I am a Batman fan myself, so I am watching this one.

War of the Worlds
This is a Steven Spielberg movie about interplanetary wars, and is reported to have a budget of $200M. Nice. It stars Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.

Fantastic Four
Another superhero flick just to complete my collection.

Bewitched
Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell star in this movie creation of the hit TV series Bewitched. Must be nice.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
I am very, very fond of this Roald Dahl story ever since I have laid my eyes on the book. And it does not hurt a bit if Johnny Depp stars as Willy Wonka.

So there. I just hope I’d still be able to save money. Hehehe.

Si Gela po ito:
1. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Of all the HP books, this is the one that I love the most. My copy’s the big, thick one, and the moment I saw the book at National Disaster Bookstore, I know I must have the book. I just can’t wait to see the book turned into a movie.

2. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
I haven’t finished reading my copy of the whole Chronicles but I am sure this one’s going to be great.

3. Aeon Flux
I don’t want to be disappointed with this one, but I really, really wanna see Charlize Theron playing the lead role.

4. The Legend of Zorro
I am afraid that the sequel’s going to be bad, but I have to keep my hopes up. I like both Banderas and Zeta-Jones and I wish that they won’t disappoint us.

5. Fahrenheit 451
I haven’t read the novel, but I want to see this.

6. Elektra
Daredevil was such a big disappointment. I wanna see if this one’s okay.

7. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
I saw the trailer and Johnny Depp looks like Palito. My sister loves Dahl, so I should check this one.

may narinig akong not so good reviews about closer - the star studded cast wasn’t able to salvage the film (daw…)

pero kahit na, malamang papanoorin ko rin lahat yan!

    happy new year!
