I have just loaded my Diana (non-LSI) with some 120 slide films last July 4 for the Winnipeg Jazz Festival, and I was absolutely thrilled with the results! I like using it more with slides than with black and white (which produced soft-colored photos — which is not my cup of tea as I like my monochromes dark and contrast-y).

I can’t remember getting these results with my Holga CFN 120 so I don’t know if I should quickly pass the judgment and give my Diana my extra love. But for less than $50 (I got it for free because Kelvin got it for me as a gift), it definitely deserves the praise.

Our first year on instant film. I just love how I got the right exposures on the landscape photos! Again it’s such a bummer I didn’t have enough to cover the whole week. I believe Henry’s selling the films online, but most of the time, I have to rely on online shopping to get my instant films (particularly the ones with border design on them).

I made a serious mistake of not stocking up with Instax Mini films! I was accompanied by my instant camera while I was showing Kelvin around the city, but I had to squeeze in 20.5 frames in two days. Bummer.

After months of having a battered Diana unit (the non-LSI model) in my drawer, I have decided to use it one fine afternoon. Look what it has helped me capture.

This is a very delayed upload since I took the photos during the May 2010 Asian Heritage Festival and had them processed not till first or second week of June.

I used my 50mm f/1.8 D lens for this one only to have some doubts in the middle of shooting. “Will this work? What if my photos died? AYHEU&#Y^&UDGH” so I ended up calling Kelvin to confirm that, well, yes all Nikkor/Nikon lenses work with all Nikon bodies.

My FM2n is a joy to use. Not only that it looked absolutely new, it works really well too. It’s heavy like my AE-1, but it’s the type of weight that you really won’t mind carrying. I find it easier to use despite that it is mechanical and fully manual.

I’m happy that it helped me create really nice photos. Looking forward to using it again.

I’ve featured some shots taken using my Yashica-A TLR but I didn’t expect this. It exceeded my expectations, actually. And I am happy with the results.

I brought my TLR when I had my portrait session with Jonalee and Edgar and I seriously loved the photos that came out! I am still a bit shaky about shooting between f/11 to f/16 because it’s a bit hard for me to judge which should I use. I had a couple of frames that came out a bit dark but it didn’t ruin the beauty of that frame.

Well, except that there were light leaks as I didn’t properly wind the film. Oh well.

I got some 120-format black and white films and hopefully when the weather turns out better I’ll go out and use it.

K got me a $5 Olympus mju I (Stylus in North America) last January. We haven’t really played around with this because this is not really for “me” (we intended to give it/sell it to someone else) since he already got me a Big Mini and a T4. But then again we haven’t given this yet (we’re acquiring more stuff, shall we say) so I have decided to used it for a day or so and tested it.

And honestly… I liked it! I just don’t like how the viewfinder is too small for me to use. Although it is discreet enough. Ergonomics wise this is better than the T4 but won’t beat Konica Big Mini if you asked me.

And I don’t know if it’s just me but I think this drains batteries faster than the other two cameras.

For a $10 camera, this delivered so much. More than I really expected. Used Ferrania Solaris 400.

SO. I finally ended up testing my Yashica-A. I used an expired Kodak NC 400 which K and I (siya lang pala, he he) purchased last January.

Featuring my sister. It was freezing cold when we shot this, and I was playing with the aperture (I think I was between f/8 to f/11 because it was really sunny outside) and had my shutter speed fixed at 1/100.

Impromptu dinner and coffee with friends one Saturday evening.
