This is D.

He broke the news by saying he’s going to MNL to get married. Of course we have to wish him well so we threw out a party for him.

He already tied the knot (I know! My uploading skills is dwindling), so I say this: CONGRATULATIONS.

Concerts really should be about a bit of audience interaction and LOTS of music.

Concerts should be like this.

You’ll be seeing a lot of backlogs as I slowly start rummaging through my hard drive. A lot of photos haven’t been posted for the past summer due to my busy schedule. Most of the time I’d rather go home after work and not hang around like what I usually do. I hardly go out on the weekends too.

(There was an exception though.)

I headed to Camp Stephens for a quick tour (this is considered as a business trip). I wasn’t really planning to post these since I’m headed there again next week but I thought it never hurts to share a couple of photos. I’m obviously going to take more.

The place is lovely during the summer. I think Stephens is a very special place for kids to be themselves, to have fun, play, and to learn how to respect fellow kids and other people. Also to deal with some setbacks and to learn how to settle them in the most democratic way possible. While I never regretted anything from my childhood, I think it would make a big difference if I went to camp. I wasn’t born here in Canada though.

MAY 23, 2011 – My cousins and nephew arrived from the Philippines and so I found myself inside the airport again.

As to why I have a photo of two photobooths here, I have a quick project to work on but I’ll leave it at that.

MAY 22, 2011 – D7000 + E series lens. Heavy but light. I don’t like how my AF-S 35mm sounds like when it auto focuses, so I opted to do it manual.

MAY 12, 2011 – Volunteering for Saturday’s yet another volunteer work.

I slept around past midnight. I don’t know why I decided to stay that late when clearly, the reason why I decided to go out of the city is to clear my mind and to relax. The hike did help, even though it was really tiring. For me one way to relax is to actually tire yourself physically. I think it helps to clear both your mind and body.

Anyway I digress. I was the first one to wake up since I’m the type of person who does not sleep soundly in other places other than my house. I was relieved to find out that Billiam is still sleeping, because he has the tendency to take everyone’s photos while sleeping. I washed my face and made breakfast. I was quickly disappointed to find out that I left the butter I bought. I went ahead and made pancakes.

It was a long breakfast since people didn’t wake up until past 8. We then headed to the river bank and decided to canoe. I haven’t paddled since 2005 when my family headed to White Shell.

I got a question from Curtis asking about what I will do with the photos I took using my Diana Mini. To be honest I was really surprised when I heard this. I guess some people are not familiar of plastic cameras. But then again I used 35mm so the damn thing should work just as the same as the big cameras, right?

I arrived there around noon via carpool with Billiam and Gary. Chugged a huge cup of coffee via McDonald’s (which is very good, by the way). We headed to the river for a bit and then met up with Curtis, Alana and Hwangkyu.

Met up with the rest of the members who arrived later. We had a quick getting-to-know-you, loosen-yourself-up-a-bit activities and then then was briefly oriented about our photowalk. We hiked for around an hour or so to see a small falls near the hostel we stayed and took photos.

If I knew that we were hiking, I would’ve brought my brown loafers (which by the way I haven’t worn in years). The path was really hard to walk on because it was muddy and wet. I assume the snow just melted, hence the wet and sticky soil. There’s a bunch of thorny plants on the side too so yes the walk was really tiring.

The view was nice but I’ve seen better falls in my lifetime.

And then we hiked back to the cabin where we decided to have dinner afterwards. People brought food–I made chicken and corn soup prior to leaving that morning and everyone liked it. It’s been a while since I cooked for a whole bunch of people.

Of course it wouldn’t be complete without a group photo of our gear. We’re actually missing Hwangkyu’s 50D and Tim’s 550D.

I’ll be posting more photos from my trip for the next couple of entries.

After my first exhibit I just went on a “shooting spree”. I haven’t really taken any photos that are not related to my show for the past couple of months. Now that it’s done I get the opportunity to do so. Just like the old times.

All of these film rolls (including 1 medium format) were dropped off to my local photo store. You’ll see them by the end of next week.

I brought two cameras with me — my FS7 which is my everyday camera and my Diana Mini, loaded with my Agfa Centuria film, Diana F+ flash and my color gel filters. I was playing around with my cameras while I was in the good company of my friends when I decided to try using the gel filters with my point and shoot`s flash. So here`s what happened.

I ended up experimenting more (because the photos turned out flat — as expected of digital p&s) by adding film filters to the photos. So now it looks crazier but the photos pop up even more, which I really like.

The result of this quick post-processing experiment left me wanting to see my film. Won`t get it till next week.
