I have just loaded my Diana (non-LSI) with some 120 slide films last July 4 for the Winnipeg Jazz Festival, and I was absolutely thrilled with the results! I like using it more with slides than with black and white (which produced soft-colored photos — which is not my cup of tea as I like my monochromes dark and contrast-y).

I can’t remember getting these results with my Holga CFN 120 so I don’t know if I should quickly pass the judgment and give my Diana my extra love. But for less than $50 (I got it for free because Kelvin got it for me as a gift), it definitely deserves the praise.

Our first year on instant film. I just love how I got the right exposures on the landscape photos! Again it’s such a bummer I didn’t have enough to cover the whole week. I believe Henry’s selling the films online, but most of the time, I have to rely on online shopping to get my instant films (particularly the ones with border design on them).

I made a serious mistake of not stocking up with Instax Mini films! I was accompanied by my instant camera while I was showing Kelvin around the city, but I had to squeeze in 20.5 frames in two days. Bummer.

Here are some of our photos that Aris took last July 18. We went to King’s Park at the U of M. The weather was amazing; much much better than the rainy weather the day before.

JULY 20, 2010 – We celebrated our 1 year relationship by having a date. Kelvin and I went to Aqua Books/Eat! Bistro first (please do try their chicken dippers with their dipping sauces – I really liked the roasted garlic one). I also got myself a copy of the book Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress in very good condition.

We then went to The Forks and showed him around. We actually took the half-hour long historical boat tour, but I don’t have the photos with me as Kelvin and I used his D80 to take the photos. And I brought my Instax with me that day (haven’t scanned them yet). Will certainly add more photos later.

JULY 19, 2010 – So Kelvin and I went to downtown on Monday and we had this very huge lunch. Hurray for eat all you can sushi, yes?

JULY 18, 2010 – Kelvin and I had our first decent photos made on Sunday. Thanks to Aris! I’ll be posting them here later once I get the permission to do so. For now, here’s a snapshot of Kelvin and Aris while we were on the bridge.

Anyway after that shoot, we picked up Cielo and Sybil and headed to BDI for some ice cream and of course, showing Kelvin around the city. We ended up chilling at our backyard because the weather became nice (unlike last Saturday).

JULY 17, 2010 – Kelvin arrived from a grueling 30-hr bus ride from Toronto to Winnipeg on Saturday. It was his first time meeting my family too.

The weather wasn’t cooperating. We planned a small pool party at the backyard but it rained all day. Yuck.

Some of my close friends came over to meet Kelvin. Everyone got introduced, so it’s all cool.

And Kelvin likes to spoil me. :p He gave me a copy of this book as a pasalubong.

Later that evening my family and I treated Kelvin for a huge dinner at Emerald.
