K and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary during the Victoria Day long weekend. We went to Niagara Falls and did a day trip to Niagara-on-the-lake. While researching we were both delighted by the small, European feel of the town. We decided to check out the place during the day, take some photos, and walk around. We found some quirky stores, but our best find happens to be Victoria Teas and Coffees. The scent of freshly brewed coffee (in different flavours!) will make your head turn twice!

We returned to NOTL the next day but within the winery/estate areas since we signed up for a half-a-day wine tour. We realized that half day’s worth of sipping wine is enough for us to get drunk for the day but it is really recommended to bring snacks! One of the wineries we visited served a charcuterie sample but that is pretty much to pair with their wines. When we headed back to Niagara Falls we engulfed a huge amount of Japanese food because we were so hungry.

Anyway, here are the photos during the trip taken using my beloved Rolleiflex and various films (Fuji Pro 160S, Kodak Portra 160, Kodak Ektar 100). I have a separate post during our stay at Niagara Falls which is coming up… soon, I hope.

To visit Niagara-on-the-lake from Niagara Falls: make sure to get a WEGO pass and take the WEGO green line along Clifton Hill (near the Rainbow Bridge, across Sheraton). Ask to be dropped off at the Floral Clock. There is a convenience store near the clock and purchase two-way tickets to Niagara-on-the-lake. You will be directed to take another WEGO bus. Drivers are knowledgeable and will give you brief explanations about the area. The last stop will be at Fort George, where you can take a shuttle heading to downtown NOTL. From there you can walk around, or take their cute transits (fee is $2.75 if I remember right). Just be aware that the last WEGO bus is around 5pm so be on time!
