Last Year Loot Breakdown

I’ve been meaning to write some review entries of sort for my new toys (cough, GAS, cough) but I haven’t really tried on some of them. Before I go on with reviewing one of them, let me just break down the things that I’ve gotten late last year:

  • AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
  • SB-600 Flash
  • Panasonic Lumix FS-7 Compact Digital Camera
  • Yashica-A TLR
  • Diana 120-format Toy Camera (Hong Kong-made)
  • Konica C35 Automatic Rangefinder
  • Canon Canoscan 4400F
  • Konica Big Mini – 302
  • 1x 8GB SD card
  • 2x 16GB SDHD card
  • Lots of film

My boyfriend has spoiled me late last year by getting me the Yashica, Diana, the two Konica and the flatbed/film scanner. It is actually really nice to know that someone that I care the most share my passion in photography. And I really love him for getting me these toys even if I told him that I will pay for them. Earlier I got him a chrome Canon AE-1 with 50mm f/1.8 FD lens as a gift for $45. Bargain!

I have also bought myself an 8GB SD card and it included a portable SD card reader. My mother was kind enough to grab me the two 16GB SDHD card during the boxing week.

My biggest spend was obviously my digital gear. I have shifted to using 18-105mm lens since it’s been difficult for me to switch from my kit to my telephoto lens when I’m shooting. It’s been a good performing camera so far, though the AF tends to be a bit slow. It made my D40 really heavy though, but I’m getting used to the extra weight now.

I haven’t tried my toys except for the digital once. Hopefully once I find the time to make a test roll, I’ll be able to do some reviews soon. I’m down to the last frame on my Yashica-A; my boyfriend was more excited that he asked me if he could do the test roll himself.

What if no one’s watching?

This nook is the culmination of a project that was postponed so many times after getting my first camera in 2004. I've consciously recognized my love for images and photography during that year, so, here it is. So, what if no one is watching? I scan my environment more carefully and take my time in breathing in the beauty that surrounds me, without worrying about other people's impressions or reactions. I hope you enjoy looking at my images the way I enjoyed the process of creating them.
